The Jubilee Party has addressed endorsements of a rival candidate in the Meru gubernatorial race.
The Jubilee Party has disowned endorsements of a rival candidate in the Meru gubernatorial race, insisting that it has a binding coalition agreement with the Party of National Unity (PNU) concerning the position.
In a statement Friday, October 30, the party said it had taken note of public declarations by individuals claiming to endorse or support a candidate for the Meru governor position on its behalf.

"Our attention has been drawn to actions and public pronouncements by certain individuals purporting to endorse or support a candidate for the position of Governor of Meru County on behalf of the Party," the statement read.
Jubilee cited Article 17(2) of its Constitution, which grants the Party Leader authority to enter into coalition agreements, warning officials and members against making political commitments outside the established constitutional framework.

The party maintained that individual officials and representatives could not make decisions that contradict or override agreements entered into through the constitutionally recognized procedures.
"Consequently, no party official, branch representative, or other individual may purport to enter into, vary, contradict, or disregard a coalition arrangement outside the authority and procedures prescribed by the Party Constitution," the statement added.
The party further emphasized that its Constitution was binding on all officials and members, adding that anyone exercising party authority must follow the prescribed procedures.
"The Party reiterates that its constitutional provisions are binding on all officials and members, and that any exercise of party authority must be undertaken strictly within the limits prescribed by the Constitution and applicable party procedures," the statement further read.
Jubilee confirmed that it had entered into a binding coalition agreement with PNU regarding the Meru governor position, warning that any endorsement of a different candidate without proper authorization would contradict its official political commitments.
The party said such declarations could not be considered legitimate representations of its position, particularly where they conflicted with the existing coalition agreement.
"Accordingly, any purported endorsement of a different candidate by individuals claiming to speak on behalf of Jubilee Party, where such endorsement contradicts the said agreement and has not been duly authorized by the competent party organ, is unauthorized, contrary to the Party's stated position, and constitutionally untenable," the statement noted.

Jubilee consequently distanced itself from any political declarations that were inconsistent with its coalition commitments, clarifying that only endorsements approved through the appropriate party structures would be recognized.
"The Party therefore disowns any endorsement or declaration inconsistent with its duly authorized coalition commitments.
"Such a declaration shall not be recognized as an official Jubilee Party position unless properly authorized in accordance with the Party Constitution and applicable law," the statement clarified.
Jubilee also warned its members and officials against making political endorsements or issuing statements in its name without authorization, cautioning that those involved could face disciplinary action.
It further warned individuals against claiming or exercising powers associated with party offices without following the constitutional procedures governing appointments and the assumption of such positions.
"We caution all our members and officials against purporting to speak or make political endorsements on behalf of the Party without proper authorization, as such conduct may attract disciplinary action in accordance with the Party Constitution.
"We further caution against claiming, occupying, or exercising the powers of any party office without following the due process prescribed by the Party Constitution. The Party shall not recognize any such unauthorized actions or claims to office," the statement concluded.
This comes weeks after the Jubilee Party Disciplinary Committee issued a show-cause letter to former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu for allegedly breaching several provisions of the party’s constitution.
In the notice dated September 30, Jubilee Party Disciplinary Committee Chairperson Njoki Mbocе said the committee resolved to take action against Wambugu following a meeting held on Tuesday, September 29.
"Take notice that pursuant to Article 10 of the Jubilee Party Constitution, 2025, the Disciplinary Committee, at its meeting duly convened and held on 29th September, 2026, resolved to initiate proceedings for disciplinary action against you," the notice read.
The disciplinary committee raised nine allegations against the former Nyeri Town lawmaker, including forming the Jubilee Aspirants Forum 2027 contrary to the party’s constitution.
Wambugu is also accused of insubordination of the party’s Secretary General by allegedly publishing communications that contravened a directive issued by the SG.
"It is alleged that on 30th April, 2026, through your verified Facebook page named ‘Ngunjiri Wambugu’, published information directly in contravention to the communication and directive made by the party Secretary General on behalf of the party dated 27th March, 2026, directing all party members and/or leaders of any party caliber to cease and desist from misleading and/or exploiting prospective aspirants and members, as the same undermined the party’s structures," Mboce said.
The Jubilee Party Disciplinary Committee further accused Wambugu of allegedly usurping the powers of the Jubilee Party Leader by purporting to speak on behalf of the party.
Wambugu is also accused of contravening express Party communication and directives, usurping the Secretary General’s power to make official Party communications and notices, and misusing the official party logo, symbol and colours.
Other allegations are misrepresenting the official party logo, symbol and colours, usurping the powers of the Party Leader of the Jubilee Party to convene meetings of the party and party members, and misrepresenting official party communication channels by presenting your personal email as the official party communication channel.
The committee directed Wambugu to submit a comprehensive written response addressing each allegation separately.
