"Our 2027 Gubernatorial candidate for West Pokot County; Samuel Poghisio," ODM posted.

On his part, Arati lauded the former Senator's move to join ODM. He said that it was a demonstration of resilience and determination to overcome any possible hurdles on his journey to become the next Governor of West Pokot County.
He added that the late Prime Minister Raila Odinga loved West Pokot and said Poghisio's entry into the gubernatorial race had reignited ODM's fire in the region.
"This time round, ODM will have at least 20 elected governors. We are determined to make ODM bigger. We shall traverse all corners of the republic, strengthening and adding new energy into the party," Arati said.
His deflection from KANU to ODM came a day after Nairobi City County Governor Johnson Sakaja ditched the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to join the Orange Party.
Sakaja confirmed that he would seek a second term in office under ODM. He explained that he joined ODM because the late Raila advised him to.
He added that he subscribed to the departed leader's ideals, particularly his commitment to social justice, inclusivity and national unity. After Sakaja was ushered in by Arati, he paid a courtesy call to ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga at his home.
