Gachagua noted that Muithirania ran for the seat in the 2022 General Election and finished in second place with more than 100,000 votes.
The former Deputy President assured Muithirania of free and fair nominations in DCP and urged her to hit the ground running by mobilizing new members and preparing for the nominations.
“I have assured her that our party nominations will be free and fair, and encouraged her to hit the ground running, particularly on the membership-registration drive, and prepare for the nominations scheduled for next March,” Gachagua added.
This comes weeks after Kenya's High Commissioner to India, Ambassador Peter Munyiri, joined the DCP party.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 21, Gachagua confirmed that Ambassador Munyiri, who paid him a courtesy call at Wamunyoro, would vie for Nyeri governorship in 2027.
He said that the Ambassador had decided to transfer his services from the Kenyan consulate in India to Nyeri County.
"Economist Peter Munyiri has served as Kenya’s Ambassador to India and has informed me of his decision to return home to serve the people of Nyeri County as its 5th Governor.
"He has aligned himself with the wishes of the people of Nyeri and will seek the position under the DCP Party," Gachagua wrote.
