High Court Bars Investigations or Prosecution of 6 Judges Uhuru Rejected

High Court has temporarily barred any investigation or prosecution of the six judges rejected by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

This comes amid divided opinion on the fate of the 6 judges who President Kenyatta refused to appoint citing intelligence reports from state authorities.

A Muslim lobby led by Chairman of the Kenya National Muslims Advisory Council, Sheikh Juma Ngao asked President Kenyatta to sack the 6 judges whose nomination he rejected.

Some of the judges left out include; Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Weldon Korir and Aggrey Muchelule all of whom were recommended for appointment to the Appellate Court.

The lobby opined that the president is the leader of the country, and the executive is superior to the Judiciary and parliament, calling upon Kenyans to respect his decision.

"President Kenyatta is the Head of State and the Executive. If JSC is superior to the Executive, and Parliament, then what is the essence of spending billions on elections," Sheikh Ngao posed.

"Mr. President you a very right. If your intelligence advised you that the six judges have a questionable record, fire them," he said.

Some of the judges left out include; Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Weldon Korir and Aggrey Muchelule all of whom were recommended for appointment to the Appellate Court.

But Chief Justice Martha Koome stated that all 6 judges that were left out by President Uhuru Kenyatta must be appointed.

Speaking last Friday the Chief Justice also cautioned the Executive of Interfering with Independence of the Judiciary.

"As we welcome our 7 new justices at the court of appeal, this is a bittersweet moment for the 4 colleagues not with us. I reiterate my position as CJ & Chair of JSC to state that all persons recommended by JSC must be appointed as judges," the CJ said.
