Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju will on Sunday, June 20, 2021, walk 57 kilometres from the Karen Hospital to Kijabe Hospital to raise funds for theatre and ultrasound machines.
Tuju's walk to Kijabe Hospital marks 16 months since the Cabinet Secretary was involved in a road accident after his car collided head-on with a matatu at Magina, Kiambu County.
Tuju was on his way to Kabaraka, Nakuru County, to attend the burial of late former President Mzee Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, when the accident occurred.
"What we are doing on Sunday, is not easy because I still have knee issues because I broke the right leg as well and I am not any younger.
"So far the resources that have been committed to this is Ksh9.3 million, we hope to reach Ksh13.8 million," Tuju stated.

The money will be forwarded to the Kijabe Hospital for the purchase of the said machines.
Tuju appealed to members of the public to chip in and contribute towards the cause through paybill number 512900.
"The money goes to Kijabe Hospital, it doesn't come to Raphael Tuju. I know Kenyans don't trust politicians," he joked.
"I am paying tribute to God for saving me from the accident. For a long time I was not able to walk. When I left hospital one of the prescriptions I had was a wheelchair, in fact I left the hospital in a wheelchair. There was a 50/50 chance I would walk again," Tuju stated.
Kijabe Hospital is known for specialised care it offers to trauma patients. Whereas the institution may have the personnel, it is a little shorthanded on the equipment.
Tuju appealed to Kenyans to chip in and facilitate the hospital to continue offering care to members of the public without transferring the equipment costs to patients.
