Governor Okoth Obado is seeking to have his murder trial heard virtually.
In an application to the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, Obado cited Covid-19 restrictions.
Obado was charged in court with aiding and abetting the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend, a pregnant student Sharon Otieno.
The trial was supposed to begin on March 16 and 14, 2020 but was adjourned due to the scaling down of court operations because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The married governor pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was arrested following weeks of public anger after the body of Sharon was found in a forest.
