According to media reports, the President is expected to inspect the ongoing construction of the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo approximated to cost Sh1.4 Billion.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday evening arrived in Kisumu to inspect a number of government projects alongside ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and a host of local leaders.

According to media reports, the President is expected to inspect the ongoing construction of the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo approximated to cost Sh1.4 Billion.

President Kenyatta is also scheduled to to inspect the construction of the Mamboleo-Muhoroni road that connects Kisumu, Nandi and Kakamega counties.

In addition to the two mega projects, the President is also expected to inspect the Uhuru Business Park and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga recreational centre.


What Kisumu residents expect from Uhuru

Residents have welcomed the president’s visit to the country and are hopeful that he’ll address some of their key concerns including stalled projects in the county.

According to a section of residents, they hope President Kenyatta will give the way forward regarding the refurbished Kisumu port that is expected to provide employment to hundreds of Kisumu residents.

Other projects the residents hope the president will address include; the refurbishment of Nakuru-Kisumu railway line, revival of stalled projects, such as Kicomi cotton factory among others.

Before the handshake, the President rarely visited Kisumu, but after the handshake with Odinga, he has become a darling of the area and is often received with thousands of Kisumu residents unlike before.
