Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has dismissed calls for his resignation over the party’s lose in the Kiambaa by-election.
Calls for Tuju’s resignation were initiated by Kieni MP Kanini Kega who blamed him and the top party leadership for the Kiambaa loss.
According to Kega, only President Uhuru Kenyatta, Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary-General Joshua Kuttuny, Acting Executive Director Wambui Gichuru, and Communications Director Albert Memusi are the ones who should retain their positions.
He urged the other national officials to resign, failure to which they’ll be ejected from office.
“We have to make some painful and hard decisions as we move forward. If you are a Jubilee national official and your name is not in the list, kindly submit your letter of resignation immediately before we physically eject you from the headquarters,” he said.

Reacting to calls for his resignation, Tuju said he expected such statements noting that as the spokesperson of the party, members will always come for him if things don’t seem okay in the outfit.
“I don’t like to have a back and forth with my members especially the elected ones because the members are my employers and bosses so I would expect the right channel to be followed because it is inappropriate for an employee to be answering back to his employers.
“What I find amusing is that ODM - for example - lost in Ugenya and nobody went for Sifuna’s blood or if there is a loss of ODM in Homa Bay would it be appropriate to bay for Sifuna’s blood? When people are baying for my blood there is nothing I can do about it,” Tuju told a local daily.
