Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has dismissed claims that he was fired from his position by the ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.
The reports of his dismissal arose from a tweet sent out on Thursday night by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.
"Ezekiel Mutua unlawfully removed by CS Mucheru as CEO after being lawfully appointed by the Board. Laws are mere suggestions for this administration," Senator Kilonzo wrote on Twitter.

The tweet sparked reactions from Kenyans with the KFCB Boss becoming the number one trending topic on Twitter in the country.
Less than an hour later, Dr. Ezeekiel Mutua responded via social media denying reports that he had been fired.
"My attention has been drawn to reports on social media to the effect that I have been fired as CEO of KFCB. Please ignore such malicious rumours. I am not aware of such developments and there can be no grain of truth in them as there's no vacancy in the office of the CEO KFCB," Dr. Mutua wrote on Twitter.
This did not stop Kenyans from trolling the KFCB boss who has faced accusations of stifling the creative industry in the past.
The KFCB boss has clashed with musicians and comedians alike as his strict regulation of content rubbed many the wrong way.
On July 16th, Comedian Eric Omondi posted a video on social media clapping back at the KFCB boss after Dr. Mutua claimed that he (Omondi) was broke.
Eric Omondi promised to get the KFCB boss fired by September 2021.
On 30th June 2021, the State Corporations Advisory Committee wrote to CS Joe Mucheru recommending the removal of Dr. Mutua from his position.
According to the body, Dr. Mutua had set in place a plan to extend his tenure, which ends on October 25th, at the helm of the body without following due process.
The SCAC claimed that Dr. Mutua had discussed with the KFCB board the matter of renewal of his contract despite the current one not having expired.
