Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has issued a statement after the government withdrew the General Service Unit (GSU) officers who have been guarding Deputy President William Ruto's residence and replaced them with AP officers.
Taking to Twitter, Senator Sajaka claimed that removing the officers is unlawful and reckless.
"@IG_NPS leave politics to politicians. Withdrawing the GSU from protecting the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya is unlawful, unnecessary and reckless. The IG, and CS interior should stop such games. The law clearly provides for this, why stir discord?" asked Sakaja.
Reports indicate that the changes to DP Ruto's security detail are part of the routine adjustments by the government.

In videos and photos circulating online, a contingent of GSU officers is seen leaving the Karen residence.
One of the GSU officers was heard saying, “We have received communication to be on standby to leave anytime."
