Legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto have refuted ODM Leader Raila Odinga's sentiments calling up the DP to resign.
While speaking to journalists from his Karen residence on August 27, 2021, the former premier called out the deputy president for criticising the same government that he serves.
Odinga urged DP Ruto to do the noble thing and resign if he is displeased with the government. He urged the DP to follow in the footsteps of his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and tender his resignation.
Taking to social media, Senators Kipchumba Murkomen and Susan Kihika told off Odinga for asking the DP to quit.
Kihika called the former premier a hypocrite, claiming that Odinga was dissatified with his involvement in the former President Mwai Kibaki government but failed to resign.

"Your father was not elected, he was Kenyatta’s appointee. As PM you complained about the quality of your Toilet and Carpet (nusu mkate & mkeka) you didn't resign yet you were merely Kibaki’s appointee. He’s staying put," Kihika stated.
Murkomen claimed that the ODM leader's human rights and rule of law credentials have quickly melted at the alter of Jubilee.
"Only 3 years ago you swore yourself in as a parallel President. Now you are cheering those attacking the DP. Kalonzo is running away because you would do worse to your DP," the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator asserted.
The lawmaker maintained that the deputy president has 346 days remaining to serve the country in that capacity and is determined to see out his term.
"Even if you undermine the office and the institution, HE Ruto will restore the dignity of that office when his Deputy will be in. God is preparing him to treat his Deputy better and with dignity," Murkomen stated.
Odinga challenged DP Ruto to resign two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta had also asked him to exit government instead of criticising its failures and associating himself with the positives.
