Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is mourning the death of Mzee Ismail Adan Yusuf.
In a post on twitter, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader recounted how the late Yusuf came to his aid in the 1990s.
Mr Odinga narrated that Yusuf hosted him and the delegation he was with at his home in Mandera after the government cancelled their meeting.
The former Prime Minister and his team had remained stuck in Mandera as the plane that took them there had also departed.
According to Odinga, Mzee Yusuf later on served the Orange party’s election board.

“It’s with great pain that I have learnt of the passing of my long-time friend Ismail Adan Yusuf. Yusuf had the courage to host me and my team at their home in Mandera in the 1990s when the government canceled our meeting, leaving us stuck, with the plane gone.
He later served on the ODM election board. I have lost a true friend. Inna lillahi wa inailayhi rajiun,” said Odinga.
