Deputy President William Ruto has today, September 2, 2021, addressed the list of assets he owns as revealed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security yesterday.
While addressing politicians and members of the public in Nakuru, the deputy president stated that he owns 70 per cent of the 10 properties listed by the CS.
DP Ruto further stated that, he owns other assets that Matiang'i failed to mention, while denying ownership of the 15,000 acre ADC Laikipia ranch.
The DP sarcastically stated that there has been a question about his wealth and Ministry of Interior had done a good job in undertaking a lifestyle audit for him.
"They have done a lifestyle audit for me. But there are a few properties they listed that I do not own, like the 10,000 or so acres in Laikipia, that is not mine.

"What Matiang'i, however, failed to mention is that I own 400,000 Safaricom shares, who is guarding those? He talked about my chicken farm, he failed to mention the acreage.
"I also own another 80,000 shares in Kenya Airways," DP Ruto stated.
He went on to reveal that his chicken farm produces over 150,000 eggs per day which sell for at least Ksh1.5 million on a daily basis.
DP Ruto further stated that the "audit" by Matiang'i had omitted other properties previously associated with him, revealing he truly does not own them.
These include Nairobi based luxury hotels 680 and Boulevard.
He alleged that the revelations by Matiang'i were ill-motived but in the process, made his hustler nation narrative more practical.
"God can use people in mysterious ways. They spend two days without sleep, working for us.
"What the lifestyle audit shows is that anyone can come from nothing and become the deputy president. That a person who wore his first shoe in Form One after buying it from a Mr. Onyango can become the deputy president of Kenya," DP Ruto said.
The DP urged members of the public to be inspired by his story and strive to achieve their goals in life.
He welcomed the idea of being protected by officers from the Administration Police (AP), stating that he has no issue with the downgrade.
DP Ruto, however, questioned the timing of the security mishap.
"I wonder why this security issue arises now, I have been the deputy president since 2013," he said.
He further noted that he has no issues with CS Matiang'i since he was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself.
