A woman suspected to be a key player in a drug trafficking network has been arrested in Murang’a County following a coordinated operation by the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU).
According to a statement released by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday, July 18, the woman was apprehended at her residence in Kandara, Murang’a.
This is after members of the public reported suspicious activities to the authorities at the premises.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, ANU detectives conducted a raid that led to the seizure of 13 gunny bags filled with bhang.
“The bhang weighing 225kgs with an estimated street value of Sh6.7 million,” the statement read in part.

Also recovered during the search were packaging materials believed to be used for processing and distributing the narcotics.
“Eunice Wangui Kimani is currently in custody, undergoing processing in preparation for her court appearance. Meanwhile, the seized narcotics have been securely detained as exhibits,” DCI added.
This arrest comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies to dismantle drug trafficking networks across the country.

On July 13, detectives in Mombasa apprehended another suspect, a 54-year-old man, along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway after intercepting a public service vehicle.
Inside the man's three bags, officers discovered 40 sachets of cannabis and Tsh5,035,000 in Tanzanian currency, alongside KSh4,960, calling for his immediate arrest.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), these arrests reflect a growing pattern of cross-border and domestic drug trafficking operations that are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Authorities have commended members of the public for providing actionable intelligence and urged continued vigilance.
