National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya has divulged that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum could be held in June 2021.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV Tuesday night, Kimunya noted that there is a high likelihood that Parliament would be done working on all the proposed bills by December 2020, making it possible for Kenyans to go to the polls in June.
“I would put it probably just before June 2021 because if we are going past August, you are eating into one year to the next election…” he said.
Kimunya Responding to Mudavadi
Reacting to ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi’s proposal to President Uhuru Kenyatta seeking for the formation of a committee of experts to streamline the BBI report, Kimunya noted that allowing such a proposal will derail the process considering that there is limited time.

He argued that once one person is allowed to make a counter proposal, everyone else will come with something new thus derailing the entire process.
“This process has been going on for the last 2 years…for how long are we going to keep the people of Kenya crying saying they want to see change? He posed.
He, however noted that President Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga are the ones who will make the final decision as to whether additional proposals will be accepted or not.
