President Uhuru Kenyatta has opened up on his retirement plans eleven months before he leaves office after serving his two-year term.
Speaking during a youth townhall session at the recently concluded 2021 AGRT summit in Nairobi, President Kenyatta noted that after leaving office, he will venture into farming.
According to the Head of State, while growing up, he wanted to be in the disciplined forces, but now, his priorities have shifted more towards agriculture.
“To be honest, when I was growing up I wanted to be in the army, but today if you were to ask me that same question, I think I’d say I want to be a former because that is what I’m going to be when I retire,” the Head of State said.

The 2021 AGRA summit brought together influential leaders from across the world including; United Nations Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed, former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and Josefa Sacko; the Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission among others.
The summit provided an avenue to highlight and unlock many of the political, policy, and financial commitments and innovations Africa has achieved and needed to advance the commitments made at the Malabo Heads of State Summit and towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the successful completion of the 2021 edition in Nairobi, the summit will now head to Kigali for the 2022 edition.
