Two children were killed and five others mauled by marauding hyenas in Kinango, Kwale County on 14th September 2021.
The two children were siblings aged 1 and 2 and the mother is said to have suffered injuries while she tried rescuing the toddlers.
According to a statement by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) on Thursday, a team was dispatched to the scene to assist the victims.
"Our Human-Wildlife Conflict Management team led by the Area Assistant Director visited the scene and assisted in evacuation of the victims to various hospital in collaboration with the local police. The affected families shall be assisted in the compensation process as provided for in the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act 2013," part of the statement by KWS read.
KWS noted that following the incident, they had intensified patrols in the affected area to avert cases of human-wildlife conflict.
