Over the recent weeks, Kibicho has held meetings with Kirinyaga Governor, Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici among other leaders from the region.


Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has addressed the intentions of the recent meetings among leaders from Kirinyaga County.

While addressing the public on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, the PS stated that the ongoing meetings are only meant to cool political temperatures ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations that will be held in the county.

Over the recent weeks, Kibicho has held meetings with Kirinyaga Governor, Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici among other leaders from the region.

Kibicho stated that there are leaders in the region plotting to instigate chaos during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The CS noted that he had joined hands with leaders from the region, and mended fences will others, to propagate peace in the county.

"We agreed among leaders, to go constituency by constituency preaching peace. We joined hands with Mr. Ngirici (Andrew), you all know the history between us, and that is why he shook hands and came to an agreement as people from Kirinyaga on how we shall move forward," Kibicho stated.

MP Ngirici urged members of the public to remain calm ahead of the celebrations and be peaceful as the county prepares to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta on October 10.

The Kirinyaga Woman Rep and PS Kibicho on September 10, 2021, resolved the issues that have for a while separated them, agreeing to work together ahead of the upcoming national event.

"... PS, Dr Karanja Kibicho and I held a peace and unity rally in Kadongu, Mwea where we emphasized a great need of pulling together as Kirinyaga leaders for the benefits of our people," Ngirici stated at the time.

The Interior CS, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ngirici an ally of Deputy President William Ruto, have long differed in political opinions.

"We also had a brief preparation breakdown ahead of Mashujaa Day which will be hosted in Kirinyaga. The people of Kirinyaga re-affirmed peace and unity before and after the national holiday," she said.

According to reports, Kibicho had intended to contest the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general elections. Ngirici recently declared she will contest the seat as well.

However, a local daily, on, September 10 reported that Kibicho revealed that he will not vie for any seat come 2022.
