Kiambu County Woman Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba has alleged that there is plan by the police to stop her empowerment drive meeting scheduled for later today.
In a statement released on Thursday night, Wamuchomba claimed that tents pitched at her meeting venue had already been removed, with Covid-19 regulations being cited as the main reason.
According to Wamuchomba, the police are exercising double standards in enforcing Covid-19 regulations. She cited the recent KANU National Delegates meeting at Bomas where thousands gathered and endorsed Senator Gideon Moi for 2022 presidency.
“I'm on empowerment drive tomorrow to reach Over 1,500 homes. They have planned to stop me because of Covid 19. Wamuchomba has vowed to proceed with the meeting as scheduled, adding that instead of blocking the meeting from taking place, the police should provide security to her and the guests.
“Anyway tomorrow I will distribute chics to my 1,500 women regardless. The police are paid to serve all and I expect them to guard my women as they receive their share of the national cake. It's also my constitutional right to be protected by police as I perform by public duty. I will not be intimidated. I will serve diligently,” she added.
