The National Police Service has dismissed claims that Inspector General of the police Hilary Mutyambai is unwell.
This comes after reports emerged on social media indicating that IG Mutyambai was unwell and had been rushed to the hospital.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 17, 2021, police dismissed the reports that had been circulating on social media.
"Contrary to social media speculation through a post by http://opera.news that Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai is unwell, NPS wishes to clarify and assure Kenyans that the IG is fine, healthy and on duty," part of the statement read.

The police stated that IG Mutyambai had been away on duty in the Democratic Republic of Congo and returned to the country on Sunday morning.
"The IG returned into the country this morning after a tour of duty in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where he participated in the 23rd Annual general meeting for Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) 2021.
The Kenyan delegation was led by Mr Wilson Njenga, Secretary Security in the Ministry of nterior and National Coordination. Such reckless, malicious and unverified reporting should be ignored with contempt," the statement ends.
