Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday had a rare treat for congregants at Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) St. John Kimuchia in Chogoria.
Ruto summoned his entourage which comprised of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome, Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici, and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki to the podium and led them in song.
The second in command confirmed that he had plans to go to heaven teaming up with his team in a song before delivering a speech in which he acknowledged that he should seek forgiveness.
“You should plan yourselves well because we can be ahead on earth as well as in heaven. You know a politician is an individual who should ask for forgiveness always," stated Ruto.
Ruto afterward toured the area and unveiled a number of projects to benefit the locals, noting that one of them was set to cost over Ksh1 billion.
The projects include road constructions, water supplies as well as upgrades of regional towns such as Chogoria.
"In Chuka and Chogoria, we agreed to improve water connection and install the sewage system. For that reason, we have saved Ksh1.5 billion for the project," he stated.
He also took a swipe at the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga over the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), maintaining that the report would leave Kenyans divided.
"I am shocked that there are people who do not embrace consensus like the President suggested, they claim they want to force the BBI report,” slammed DP Ruto.
Ruto has been leading the anti-BBI campaigns, demanding for dialogue to have an uncontested referendum.
Meanwhile, Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta have maintained that the document is good as it is.
A meeting is currently underway in Naivasha where lawmakers allied to Uhuru and Raila have convened to plot the next step to ensure that the BBI report sails through both in the parliament and in the senate.
