Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has asked Kenyans to ignore the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) retreat in Naivasha being chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Leader Raila Odinga.
In a tweet on Monday, Murkomen opined that the process ought to be consultative, adding that the he BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill must be amended to include proposals by all parties.
“Don’t buy the grandstanding and the political posturing in Naivasha. The BBI Constitutional Amendment Bill must and will be amended. More than half of those in Naivasha are of the same spirit with us who were not invited. They are making the same demands we are making. Amending we must,” he tweeted.
His statement is contrary to that of pro-BBI leaders who’ve maintained that there is no time for consultations, and as such the Bill will be pushed for consideration by Kenyans as it is.

Moses Kuria's Take
Meanwhile, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has vowed to oppose the (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill if it does not guarantee benefits for Kenyans.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Kuria claimed that BBI is a ‘project of dishonesty’ arguing that leaders with contrary opinion regarding the report were not invited to the Naivasha retreat where the BBI report is being discussed.
“If there is anyone who needed proof that BBI is a project of dishonesty and deceit, look no further than the retreat that starts today at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha. Simply because we want the report improved to iron out contentious issues, they have only invited MPs who want the report passed the way it is. Pole sana. Our people have instructed us to include their issues including Guaranteed Minimum Returns (GMR) for coffee, tea, milk, sugar and vegetables. If there is no GMR, I hereby declare myself the leader of the NO campaign,” he posted.
