Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has withdrawn a surety he stood for a terror suspect arrested in Kwale County in 2016.
This is after a Kwale Court issued a warrant of arrest against the Nyali MP on Monday, November 1, 2021, after the suspect, Noordin Abdalla Hassan, failed to appear in court more than 18 times and the lawmaker could also not explain his whereabouts.
On Wednesday, November 3, Ali appeared in court after which Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido lifted the warrant of arrest against him.

Hassan was arrested on Tuesday, November 2 in Majengo, Mombasa County, and was presented in court yesterday.
"The warrant of arrest issued against the surety, Mohammed Ali, is hereby lifted as the accused person has now been apprehended and brought before court," the Magistrate stated.
“As the cash bail had not been forfeited, the same be refunded to the surety upon his discharge. The surety is allowed to withdraw and is discharged,"Justice Omido added.
In a letter to the court through his lawyer Titus Kirui, Ali stated that learnt about the court summons through the media and requested a mention of the case in the court, which was accepted.
Kirui told the court that the MP was instrumental in ensuring that the suspect was arrested.
"The surety was instrumental in tracing and having him arrested. He is present in court and wishes to withdraw his surety," Kirui said.
Hassan is facing 12 counts of terror-related charges among them being a member of a terror group and being in possession of terror-related materials.
He is currently remanded at Shimo La Tewa Maximum Security Prison and will appear in court on November 18.
