A section of legislators from the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party has demanded that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) should name its flag bearer before the end of 2021.

Addressing a rally in Matunda, Kakamega County, the legislators led by Senator Cleophas Malala threatened to seek alternative options if OKA fails to meet their demands.

Additionally, the leaders noted that they want to know the alliances’ plans for the presidential election since time is running out.

“Tunaambia wenzetu katika One Kenya Alliance ya kwamba tunataka tujue presidential candidate wa One Kenya Alliance by 25th of December. Kama hatutakuwa tumejua huyo presidential candidate ambaye tunajua ni Musalia Mudavadi, basi sisi tutaamua tusukume gurudumu kama ANC, na tuongee na marafiki na tutafutie Mudavadi urais 2022,” Butere MP Tindi Mwale opined.

On their part, Lurambi MP Titus Khamala and Senator Malala accused the Principals of wasting time, adding that Mudavadi is a senior statesman who should not be kept waiting.

The One Kenya Alliance is made up of KANU headed by Senator Gideon Moi, Wiper led by Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC under Mudavadi, Ford-Kenya led by Senator Moses Wetangula and recently, for MP Cyrus Jirongo joined the fold.

So far, KANU, Ford-Kenya and Wiper have already endorsed their party leaders for the presidential seats.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that the alliance may not field a presidential candidate in 2022 and end up supporting either ODM Leader Raila Odinga or DP William Ruto who are considered the front-runners in the race.

OKA principals have, however, dismissed these claims arguing that they will have a presidential candidate in 2022.
