Nairobi County will experience water shortage for an unknown period of time.
A statement seen by Nairobi Leo indicated that the water shortage is due to a water pipeline that damaged an underground electrical power cable.
The statement signed by Nairobi City Water &Sewerage Company, Managing Director Nahason Muguna said the whole city will be affected apart from areas in Kilimani, Central Business Center.
Kenyatta National Hospital and Kenyatta Hospital will not be affected by the interruption expected to hit the rest of the city.
The NCWSC is currently undertaking repairs to rectify the issue.
Water Cartels
In September 2020, NMS boss General Mohamed Badi warned cartels and individuals diverting water supply their days are numbered.
Badi told MPs he is going after the racketeers who have been making billions by starving residents of water so they supply it at exorbitant prices.
Appearing before the National Assembly Security Committee the NMS boss said he will not be intimidated by the cartels keen on resisting his bid to streamline distribution.
"Water is deliberately being diverted to private houses where it is loaded into bowsers and sold to Nairobi residents.
“These cartels have been challenging every move that I make — unfortunate for them. With my background, all I know is work," Badi said.
