ODM party has dismissed a report indicating that it will not field candidates for various elective seats in some regions in the county.
In a statement by the party's Director of Elections Catherine Muyeka Mumma dated Monday, December 20, the Orange party stated that the reports are untrue.
According to Mumma, the party has not held any meeting that resorted to not fielding candidates in some regions.
"The ODM is a national party that will field candidates in all counties to reflect its national character.
"We urge all aspirants who are planning to seek our party tickets to ignore the reports and continue to seek and negotiate for support from the electorate," she said.
At the same time, Mumma warned aspirants against falling prey to unscrupulous party officials who may lure them with party tickets in exchange for money.
She said her office is the only mandated organ that will handle matters concerning elections certificates and warned that no other official has been given the mandate to do so.
"Please note that no party official has been given any authority or mandate to issue party certificates to aspirants out of the party regulations.
"The relevant party organs will sit at the appropriate time and determine the matters on the issuance of the party certificates, in accordance with party laws and regulations," Mumma stated.
She, however, urged aspirants to hold dialogues for possible consensus ahead of the polls.
The ODM party, amidst claims of selling its ticket to the highest bidder, is facing an uphill task on its primaries considering that it pronounced itself clear on not preferring universal suffrage.
The party aims to save on cost even as its party leader Raila Odinga seeks to stage a presidential contest of his lifetime in the 2022 polls.
