A prison warden has been arrested over the gruesome murder of the 61-yead old businessman from Nyeri County.
Erasmus Iguku was a businessman popularly known for his electronics dealing and had several shops in Nyeri town, while the prison warder, Benson Musili, was drawn from King'ong'o GK Prison.
It is suspected that Musili had conspired with the deceased wife, Doris Wambui, aged 48, to carry out the ordeal on Sunday night, December 19.
After committing the act, the two fled to an undisclosed destination before being arrested by the Detectives on Tuesday, December 21.
The investigators had been trailing them for two days as they tried to evade arrest, but their schemes failed after being caught up at the Kivaa area in Masinga, Machakos County.
Nyeri Central sub-county Police Commander Paul Kuria confirmed their arrest, stating that they were waiting to be arranged before the Nyeri Courts.
However, the motive behind the murder of the businessman has not been revealed and what led the wife to conspire with the Prison warden.
Cases of killings within the family have been on the rise recently as Kenyans witnessed the grisly murder of Charity Wangu in Kirinyanga County.
Reports indicate that Wangui was hacked and burnt to death by her husband, James Wachira Muchiri,45, after a domestic brawl.
