The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) haw warned Kenyans residing in Witeithie area in Juja, Kiambu County, of the dangerous clan of hyenas that are roaming in the area.
In a statement, DCI says the wild animals are causing deadly attacks hence the need for residents to exercise caution.
One person is said to have been mauled to death by the hyenas on the morning of Monday, December 27, while on his way home.
The victim's friend who was with him on the day of the tragedy narrowly escaped the deadly attack.
"This caution follows a sad incident reported to police at 5 am today of a 29-year-old man who was mauled to death by the cackle of about 20 hyenas within Kamuthi area on his way home from Komu quarry. The victim's counterpart narrowly escaped by the skin of his teeth," the DCI said in the statement.

A multi-agency team drawn from the National Police Service, Kenya Wildlife Service and other local law enforcement agencies has been dispatched to handle the dangerous predators and prevent further attacks on people.
