Itumbi questioned the motive of the officers after having his medication interrupted in order to sign certain documents.

Deputy President William Ruto's Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi has called for an end to unscheduled visits by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Through his lawyer, Kamotho Njenga, Itumbi questioned the motive of the officers after having his medication interrupted in order to sign certain documents.

He further demanded that DCI Chief George Kinoti make public the details of the investigation before he undertakes legal action against the investigators.

"We are instructed that on December 29, 2021, persons who presented themselves as DCI officers visited the medical facility where our client is recuperating at the ICU seeking among other things, to obtain undefined statements," Lawyer Njenga stated.

“There can be no justification as to why our client, a victim of heinous atrocities is being trailed to his hospital bed in absolute disregard of his health and legal rights. Our client is a law-abiding citizen and duly entitled to recuperate without interference, intrusion or snooping.”

His legal team has called for the investigators to allow him to recuperate at Nairobi Hospital first.

Earlier, UDA party Director of Communications Wanjohi Githae had raised concerns after the said incident just hours after Deputy President William Ruto paid him a visit.

According to Githae, the officers were not mindful of procedures required to be followed when assessing a patient who is admitted to ICU.

"Dear @DCI_Kenya, suddenly you have realised there is a need to record a statement from @OleItumbi. Fair enough. But you understand that there are procedures when accessing a patient in ICU. It is not just a walk-in," he stated.
