Presidential aspirant Jimmy Wanjigi was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Wanjigi was arrested on Tuesday, January 18, following a raid at his Kwacha Group of Companies offices. He spent the night at the Kamukunji Police Station.

The businessman is accused along with others for conspiring to commit a felony and forgery of a title deed.

The Directorate if Criminal Investigations (DCI) recommended to that Wanjigi and his wife Irene Nzisa be prosecuted for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud involving a Ksh.1.2 billion piece of land in Nairobi.

According to reports, detectives from the land fraud unit of the DCI forwarded the inquiry file to the DPP on December 10, 2021, with recommendations that Wanjigi and Nzisa among others be charged with obtaining Ksh56 million from Kenroid Limited.

They are accused of falsely pretending they were in a position to sell the company the piece of land along General Mathenge Drive in Westlands.

The DCI had launched a probe to establish the real owners of the land, which is claimed by three parties.
