Former Starehe Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda has tossed himself into the Nairobi Senatorial contest.
Speaking during an Interview on Kameme TV, the former MP stated that he will take a stab at the Senate seat in a bid to represent the people of Nairobi at a higher level.
Kamanda stated that the decision to contest a higher seat was informed by consultative meetings and demand from the people of Nairobi.

"I have been listening to the people of Nairobi. You cannot say I'm old to lead the people of Nairobi yet they are telling me to lead them in the Senate," he said.
Kamanda also told off Deputy President William Ruto and UDA, claiming that all elective seats in Nairobi will be won by aspirants under the Azimio La Umoja coalition.
"Nobody is thinking about Ruto in Nairobi. UDA will not get any political seat in all the 17 constituencies within Nairobi. This is because we have made a plan on how we will win the seats," he said.
Following the announcement, Kamanda will go up against ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, UDA's Roy Smith Mwatia alias Rufftone, Karen Nyamu, among others.
