Jubilee nominated senator Isaac Mwaura has downplayed reports indicating that the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will be deputy president William Ruto's running mate in the August 9, elections.
The senator said the running mate slot had been, long ago, allocated to the Mt Kenya region and that has not changed yet.
He added that the move by a section of leaders from the Mt Kenya region to speak at the function was a clear show that the DP is still keeping his promise of giving the running mate slot to the people of the Mt Kenya region.

"We from the Mt Kenya region are very categorical that the Deputy President position is from our region and that has not changed. That is why you saw among the speakers were Anne Waiguru, Alice Wahome, and Rigathi Gachagua.
"That tells you clearly. I know our competitors are going to spin that Musalia Mudavadi is going to be the running mate of William Ruto, not at all. The details are going to be unraveled," he said.
The entry of the ANC leader to the DP's camp, according to a section of pundits, signalled a possible alliance between Ruto and Mudavadi; with the former likely to be the presidential candidate.
Many believed the move complicates the matrix for the Mt Kenya region which has been rallying behind the DP with the hope of clinching the top seat.
Mudavadi announced on Sunday that he will be working closely with the deputy president in the August 9, polls.
He ruled the possibility of teaming up with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
