Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri has tossed himself into the political arena with eyes on the Kasarani Parliamentary seat.
While addressing members of the public in Kasarani on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, Karauri announced that he will contest the seat following appeals by his supporters.
He dismissed claims that the country lacks abled leaders, stating that it is just that good leaders have not been given the opportunity to lead.
Karauri made his declaration amid cheers from supporters who decried poor leadership from their incumbent member of parliament.

"It is not that Kasarani has no leaders, leaders are there. It is just that there are different levels. But when you get to a certain stage, there has to be change," he said.
"The people of Kasarani have asked me to be their MP and I have accepted the challenge," he declared amid cheers from supporters.
"I am certain that in August, the next member of parliament for Kasarani will be Ronald Karauri," he added.
Karauri joins a host of aspirants who are transitioning from the corporate world into politics, most notably, former Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja.
The Sportpesa CEO is however yet to announce the political vehicle with which he will contest the August 9 general elections.
