The 19-year-old man Collins Sambaya who was nailed on a tree in Chamasili village, Vihiga County for allegedly stealing a radio is recuperating at a local hospital.
Mr. Sambaya was rushed to Itando Mission of Hope and Health Care centre where he has been undergoing treatment since the ordeal happened on Friday.
According to the grandfather only identified as Henry, the 19-year-old is recovering well.
The grandfather also denied the claims that Sambaya stole a radio as accused by the suspect who nailed him on a tree.
“My grandson is innocent. A few days ago, the suspects took my grandson to a nearby police station where they reported him for allegedly stealing the said radio. Officers however freed him after establishing that there was no evidence to support the pair’s allegations," Henry stated.

According to a police report seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, Sambaya was nailed by a suspect identified as Elvis Irime.
"It was reported by North Izava location chief namely Evans Endesha by phone that he received a report that a person had been nailed on a tree by some people. Police visited the scene and found that one male adult namely Collins Sambaya aged 19yrs had been injured by one Elvis Irime by nailing him on a tree on allegation that the victim (collins sambaya) had stolen his radio, within Chamasili village.
"Upon seeing the police approaching the scene, the assailant suspect (Elvis Irime) ran away and is still at large. The victim was successfully rescued and rushed to Mbale referral hospital in stable condition where he is receiving treatment," the police report read in part.
