Nairobi City County workers on the morning of Tuesday, February 22, 2022, downed their tools as they protested delayed salaries and poor working conditions.
According to reports, the workers sabotaged service delivery at the county by locking City Hall and City Hall Annex.
The workers are accusing Governor Anne Kananu of failing to address their issues despite a 21-day strike notice issued in January.
According to Kenya County Government Workers Union Nairobi branch secretary-general Festus Ngari, the stand-off will continue until the Governor Kananu-led administration addresses their grievances.

The over 12,000 county workers are decrying poor working conditions among them non-functional lifts and poor toilets which are disadvantaging workers with disabilities.
They also raised concerns over the auctioning of City Hall over a loan of Ksh4.3 billion owed to KCB bank.
"Our members face occupational risks all the time due to poor working conditions, environment and demotivation [thus] compromising the productivity," said Ngari.
He insisted that the strike will continue until their demands are met.
