Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Thursday left a section of Kenyans in stitches after he launched a verbal attack on Deputy President William Ruto.
Addressing a rally in Nyamira County, the flamboyant governor said that he had told the DP that he must respect ODM leader Raila Odinga.
He went on to say that Ruto did not take him seriously and that Raila's camp has caused friction in the DP's camp, prompting him to seek asylum in the United States.
“Mimi niliambia Ruto lazima ataheshimu Baba lakini akaona kama ni mzaha mzaha. Tumemfinya hadi ameenda kutushtaki kwa wazungu sasa. Tulimuambia akileta noma, pia sisi tutaleta noma,” Joho stated.
Joho’s remarks came just less than a day after Ruto, on his US trip, said that there’s a plan to sabotage Kenya’s democracy.
Giving his speech at the Loyola University in Maryland, USA, the second in command intimated that there’s a plan by government agencies to manipulate the decisions of Kenyans in the upcoming election.
“There is a huge pushback by citizens against any attempts to choreograph the next dispensation. We want to make our choices without being chaperoned, blackmailed or intimidated,” the DP told Americans.
The DP spoke even as his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, publicly declared his support for Raila saying Ruto is unfit to lead the country.
