Former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe has weighed in on Mount Kenya's interest in the ODM leader Raila Odinga government.
Speaking on Monday night, March 14, 2022, Murathe claimed that Central Kenya is not interested in the running mate position in Odinga's government.
The former Jubilee vice chair claimed that the region is willing to sacrifice the position to keep Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Azimio La Umoja.
He noted that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) would have offered them more room to negotiate, as it would have created the position of the Prime Minister.
"As Mt. Kenya, we are not keen on the number two position in Raila's government......If BBI had worked, we could have had Prime Minister position," Murathe stated.
This comes after Kalonzo penned a pact with the Azimo La Umoja coalition over the weekend.
Murathe had previously claimed that Kalonzo is the most likely to become Kenya's 6th president in the 2027 general elections.
"Kalonzo for the third time has said that the interest of the country comes first then his ambition. There are plans underway to make him the 6th President," he said on March 13.
