Police are probing an incident where a prison warden based at Kodiaga Maximum Prison allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday night.

Fred Oganya. 37, is said to have shot himself dead using his G3 rifle while he was manning the correctional facility gate, according to a police report.

Report by TV47 indicates that the deceased was allegedly drunk when he committed the tragic incident.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the incident was triggered by domestic wangles. The officer is said to have been approached by his wife for money to buy food.

He is said to have told the wife that he did not have money to buy the foodstuff and further asked her to take care of their children and also inform his mum that he will take his life.

The deceased body has been taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga  Teaching and referral hospital pending further probe.
