The family traced his phone but the trail went cold in Bomet, where it was switched off.

Mary revealed that the family was not aware Momanyi was a witness in Obado's murder trial, adding that they only found out after watching the news.

“My husband was supposed to come back on Wednesday night but he is not yet home, his phone indicates that he was last online at around 7:29 pm on Tuesday, March 22.

“As a family, we are very much worried now that we know the matter he was involved in,” she stated.

The family further raised concerns as to why the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) did not place Momanyi under witness protection as he was a key witness in Governor Obado's case.

Momanyi while appearing at the Milimani Law Courts, told the judge that he forged documents for Obado's personal assistant Michael Oyamo, who is a prime suspect in the case.

He revealed that Oyamo wanted falsified medical reports indicating that he was sick and hospitalised on the day Sharon Otieno’s body was discovered dumped in Homabay County.

“The patient (Oyamo) did not even come to the hospital but I was requested to fill the medical records form in which I indicated he suffered accidental suffocation and strangulation by unknown people,” the medic told the court.

Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) Kisii branch Secretary-General Victor Bwanchete, has revealed that efforts to trace and establish Momanyi's whereabouts have been futile.

He called for speedy investigations into the matter.

Kisii Police Commander Francis Kooli has since stated that no complaint concerning the missing of the clinical officer has been received.

He promised to issue a comprehensive report later on Friday, March 25.
