In a press statement on Friday, the council asked the Head of State to assure Kenyans that the polls and the handing over of power would be peaceful.
“We call on His excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta to lead the country in assuring all Kenyans that the 2022 general elections and transitions will be peaceful, free and fair,” Wote ACK Bishop Francis Matui read out the statement.

NCCK also requested the adequate funding of the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure it’s well equipped to execute its mandate in the polls.
“We urge the National Treasury to fully finance the budget of the Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC),” Bishop Matui stated.
In a message to political parties and coalitions, NCCK called for free and fair primaries in preparation for the polls.
“We call upon all political parties and coalitions to hold free and fair primaries and also address the fears of aspirants that some are more equal than others,” Bishop Matui concluded.
