Governor Kinyanjui stated that his decision was arrived at to consolidate Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja coalition support base in the region.
“To consolidate Azimio Coalition support base and lead the campaign team in the region, a decision has been arrived that I defend my Governor seat on Jubilee Party ticket.
“I therefore wish to state that I will defend my seat as Nakuru Governor on Jubilee ticket,” Governor Kinyanjui tweeted.

According to the county boss, the decision was made in full consultation with top leadership and members of the Ubuntu Peoples Forum party.
He added that in the meantime, UPF party will field and support its candidates in respective positions in line with its mandate. UPF was formed by the county boss late last year.
Kinyanjui further cited attempts by his opponents to sponsor candidates in various parties with the view of splitting their support base.
He added that candidates running under Azimio shall be unveiled after the nominations and will strive to have only one candidate for each seat.
The county boss, however, expressed his apologies to UPF supporters after his move to run on a Jubilee ticket.
The party has been gaining popularity in Nakuru County since its inception last year. The county has over 1 million registered voters.
