Bungoma governor, Wycliffe Wangamati, also received a direct ticket from the party as he seeks re-election after being elected in 2017 on a Ford Kenya ticket.

Others given direct tickets were former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende who is eyeing the Vihiga County top seat, and Moses Mulomi who is running for the governorship in Busia County.

The party had earlier maintained that it would issue direct tickets to all unopposed candidates. DAP-K received over 1000 applicants who were seeking the party’s ticket across all elective posts.
