A section of women in the Azimio Women Movement have now demanded that Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua be named Raila Odinga’s running mate.
At a press briefing on Monday after a meeting in Westlands, Nairobi, the women said that Ms. Karua knows how to run a government and her record speaks for itself.
In the address made by Rachael Shebesh, CAS Ministry of Public Service and Gender Programmes, the women further maintained that the former presidential candidate is a committed woman who is known for her integrity.
According to Shebesh, they would start lobbying for Karua’s candidature as running mate in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party.
They maintained that they would initiate the discussions within Azimio adding that in politics there were always negotiations and talks.
The women were drawn from all the 26 parties that formed the Azimio One Kenya coalition party.
They said that Karua will not only add to the value of Raila's presidency but also give women the hope of believing that they can be leaders to the level of a deputy president.
The Azimio women added that they were wishing well for the rest of the names lobbying for the position but said their strategy would be the winning one.
This comes after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said that he's the best person to be named as Raila’s running mate in the August presidential polls.
