Kimilili legislator Didmus Barasa was ordered by a court to pay lawyer Ksh1.8 million in legal fees.
On Monday the court order the Member of Parliament to raise the funds by tomorrow Tuesday, November 24, 2020, or face six months in jail.
Barasa owes lawyer Alfred Ndambiri the money for legal fees the lawyer represented him in an election petition filed against him by former Kimilili MP Suleiman Murunga in 2017.
On the October 9, Magistrate Kivuti had however directed that Barasa be given the last chance to appear before him on November 24.

In different appearances before the court, Barasa had pleaded leniency and promised to pay but he did not honour his commitment.
The MP is in the middle of another court battle after he was arraigned before a Kajiado court and charged with selling a matatu with an outstanding loan to a businessman.
It is alleged that on March 17, 2017, at Kitengela, MP Barasa, being the owner of Toyota Hiace KBX 734E took out a loan on the vehicle with intent to defraud without the consent of Uwezo Microfinance Bank, which provided the funds.
