"We have met and agreed that Presidential and Governor seats candidates will now present their details and that of their deputies by May 16," Chebukati said in the press conference.
IEBC will now gazette the new changes.
Earlier, it was reported that Chebukati had directed presidential aspirants to submit the names of their deputies by Thursday, April 28.
The deadline meant aspirants had just a day from today (Tuesday) to present the name.
Both Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance opposed the new deadline.
The issue of running mates has been a thorny issue for both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza teams as both teams has several leaders jostling for the slot.
The new deadline now gives them a chance to consult more and reveal their preferred deputies.
