Nine people are nursing gunshots injuries after daring bandits attacked a PSV vehicle they were travelling in along the Lodwar-Kitake road.
Turkana South OCPD Robert Kibuchi confirmed the incident saying the bandits sprayed the 14-seater with bullets and escaped into the nearby thicket.
Four of the nine injured have been rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret for specialized medical attention.
They include a driver of the PSV vehicle.
The rest of the injured passengers were taken to Kapenguria County referral hospital where they are being treated.
Another four passengers sustained minor injuries. They were treated at Kainuk hospital and discharged.
The Turkana area bordering the West Pokot County and some areas of Elgeyo Marakwet have come under attacks from bandits on numerous occasions.
The attacks have been fueled by livestock theft and tribal animosities.
The government's attempts to contain the situation have not been fruitful leaving local residents at the mercy of the bandits.
