The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a two-day application deadline for students interested in pursuing a Diploma in Medical Engineering at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) facilities.

In a notice shared on Tuesday, August 26, prospective students were advised not to miss the opportunity, as the application window closes on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

"Don't miss an opportunity to apply for a Diploma in Medical Engineering! Available at KMTC Eldoret and KMTC Meru. Login and apply via students.kuccps.net,” the notice read.

The program is currently being offered at two KMTC campuses- Eldoret and Meru- to provide students in different regions with access to this critical healthcare training opportunity.

Interested candidates are required to apply through the official KUCCPS student portal, with the application process expected to be completed entirely online before the Wednesday deadline.

“Did you know the Medical Engineering course has shaped healthcare since 1978 in Loitoktok? Today, it continues to produce skilled professionals who keep hospitals and clinics running safely,” KUCCPS informed.

The program focuses on training skilled professionals who play essential roles in maintaining hospital and clinical operations through technical expertise in medical equipment management.

Students in the course learn comprehensive skills, including equipment installation, servicing, calibration, and maintenance of critical medical devices.

Other skills include troubleshooting and repair of medical devices, equipment calibration procedures, and technical reporting protocols.

The program also covers hospital infrastructure systems and introduces students to research and innovation opportunities within healthcare technology.

Graduates of the Medical Engineering program have access to diverse career pathways across multiple healthcare industry sectors. The training opens opportunities in public and private hospitals, where qualified medical engineers are essential for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of life-saving equipment.

The private sector also offers significant opportunities, particularly for medical equipment manufacturing and distribution companies that require technical specialists who understand the technology and healthcare applications.

Additionally, non-governmental organizations and international health projects frequently seek medical engineering professionals to support healthcare delivery in various settings.

“The program offers a 3-year diploma for new students and a 2-year upgrading program for certificate holders. If you’re passionate about healthcare and technology, this course opens doors to a rewarding career that saves lives daily,” KUCCPS advised.
