UDA candidate Hassan Omar is 3rd with 9 per cent.

Just a few weeks after announcing that he will be gunning for Mombasa Governor Seat, Former Nairobi county boss Mike Mbuvi Sonko is proving that he stands a chance.

Trends and Insights for Africa has released data showing the leading governor seat contenders.

Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir is the leading in the Governor race with 40 percent of the respondents backing him.

He is closely followed by Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who has 28 percent.

UDA candidate Hassan Omar is 3rd with 9 percent.

The poll is a strong indicator to Sonko that has a fighting chance even though Nassir appears to be on the top.

The current Mombasa Senator Faki Mohamed also appears likely to retain his seat after 14 percent of the respondents supported him.

Hamisi Mwaguya came in second with 7 percent. 78 percent of the respondents are undecided.

The woman's representative race is between Asha Mohamed and Zamzam Mohamed. Asha has 8 percent while Zamzam has 7 percent. However, 78 percent of the respondents are undecided.

On the Presidency, ODM leader Raila Odinga beats Deputy President William Ruto as the most preferred.

Raila enjoys the support of 52 percent of the residents while 32 support Ruto
