Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has broken his silence after an old photo with Deputy President William Ruto reemerged on social media.
In a statement via Twitter, Governor Kivutha said that the photo which has since gone viral on social media platforms was taken back in 2021.
"I am told this is (re) trending. It was a beautiful photo after an IBEC meeting of Council of Governors among others with the Deputy President of Kenya taken over a year ago. Then he told me he stood for bottom up economics and I replied I have always stood with Wanjiku," Kivutha stated.
Speculations were rife that Governor Kivutha was heading to DP Ruto's Kenya Kwanza after the photo started circulating.

The Governor claimed that the former vice president is sabotaging Raila Odinga's presidential bid.
"It is clear Wiper was never in Azimio. Evidently, it has no intention of joining Azimio. Indeed it is methodically undermining Azimio. Up to now, the party has never campaigned for Raila in Ukambani," Kibwana said.
At the same time, Governors Alfred Mutua and Amason Kingi ditched Azimio for Kenya Kwanza citing dishonesty in the outfit.
