The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance running mate panel was to announce the results of the vetting done on Wednesday, May 11 only for the exercise to be postponed.

Veteran politician Noah Wekesa, who was the panel's chair, said they will reveal the name of the top three candidates.

The seven-member panel was to converge at Serena from 9 am before making public the list of the three names that will be presented to Raila.

However, the press conference was called off at the eleventh hour.

"Details are being worked on by our Secretariat. We will meet here at 9 am to pick the top three then submitted the names to the party leader," Wekesa said on Tuesday evening.

"At 11 am we will give a substantive report to the public."

The panel interviewed 10 of the 11 shortlisted candidates after Kanu chairman Gideon Moi withdrew stating his name was submitted without his authority.

Those who were interviewed include Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Agriculture CS Peter Munya, former Emgwen MP Stephen Tarus and Narc boss Charity Ngilu.

Others were Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru) and Muranga MP Sabina Chege.
